Government to fly Dhaira body back home

Government will fly back the body of former Cranes and IBV Vestmanaeyjar goalkeeper Abel Dhaira who died after succumbing to abdominal cancer at an Iceland hospital on Sunday.






This was confirmed by both Abel’s father Mr Bright Dhaira who is also a former Cranes international as well as presidential press secretary Ms Lindah Nabusayi in a message on her twitter account.
“Government to meet expenses for the return of the body of the late Cranes goal keeper #RipDhaira,” it stated.






Dhaira senior meanwhile, revealed the family was on its way to state house to finalize the burial arrangement.
“Two of my other sons and my brother are in Kampala to liaise with Fufa and state house officials to sort out further details,” he explained.






Dhaira was diagnosed with abdominal cancer at Nsambya Hospital late last year before being flown back to his Iceland club after his condition failed to improve, and where he has been treated since before breathing his last.






Dhaira Jnr started his career at Walukuba Football Club in Jinja.
From there he moved to Express, then URA, AS Vita (DRC), ÍBV (Iceland), Simba SC (Tanzania) and back to ÍBV. He last appeared for the Cranes in 2013.
