Ssentamu, Kiggundu impress but Van Pee dominates MX Round Two

In Summary

Motocross. With the South African not scoring points at the event, 10-time champion Blick finished second behind Van Pee with Talha Kiggundu in third.

KAMPALA. This was billed as a clash between reigning national MX 1 champion Maxime Van Pee against guest South African female rider and former African champion Brittaney Cuthbert.
Instead, the biggest cheers at the end of the second round of the Mountain Dew national MX championship were reserved for Fortune Ssentamu and Fatuh Kiggundu.
Apart from dominating in their respective MX 85 and MX 2 categories, the pair also had a go at their seniors in the MX1 class during their final run and much to the excitement of the crowd.

The day though belonged to Van Pee with the two time national champion comfortably defeating his rivals and relegating his opponent Cuthbert to a battle against Arthur Blick for a fight for second place.
The South African edged that battle after the first of three runs before an accident on the first turn of the third round left her with too much ground to cover on the leaders. “Someone braked in front of me which affected my performance,” she said of the incident.
She however lauded rival Van Pees performance and that of Isabella Blick who clinched the MX 50 race.
“They are really fast and I believe they have a bright future in the sport,” she remarked afterwards.
